New MAX Factor: Vivid Impact Lipcolor & 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper Mascara

MAX Factor Vivid Impact Lipcolor in Rose Rage
Made with shea butter, MAX Factor’s new semi-sheer Vivid Impact Lipcolor comes in a range of pure pigment shades designed by P&G Global Creative Design Director Pat McGrath. According to MAX Factor, “The ultra rich, pure pigment lipcolor offers head-turning looks from classic to bold, but always vivid.”

I tried this lipstick in Rose Rage, a pretty mauve rose shade with a subtle and trendy hint of fuschia. The creamy and moisturizing color starts out a sheer pink, and is buildable for more oomph. If you want to wear the latest bright pink lipstick featured by magazines and on runways but you just want to head to the grocery store, this is a lipstick shade for you.

MAX Factor 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper Mascara

According to MAX Factor, “Bigger is Better,” and their 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper mascara has a patented “Fat-Wrap” plastic brush that has a 25% bigger core and 67% more bristles (compared to MAX Factor Volume Couture Mascara). I’ve definitely noticed that this mascara has one of those spiky applicator brushes, but has shorter bristles and a fatter center than many other mascara’s I’ve used. Though I was skeptical at first, I found that this brush design actually works very well for separating and defining my lashes.

While this mascara formula is supposed to volumize lashes (apparently increasing lash thickness up to 200%), I have personally found it to be more of a separating and lengthening mascara. However, this mascara’s curl-holding power could be improved, so I can’t wait to see if the waterproof version holds a curl better. Even though I think I like Cover Girl’s Volume Exact Mascara better overall, MAX Factor’s 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper is still good enough for me to wear this weekend to a wedding, where a good mascara may be key.
