I recently sought out Gabriel Cosmetics products because I had heard good things about their lead-free lipstick, and because I liked their no-animal-testing and natural ingredient philosophy.  Hey, we could all use a good natural lipstick these days!

The founder of Gabriel Cosmetics, Gabriel DeSantino, developed the line of natural animal-friendly beauty products based on homeopathic family traditions that incorporated marine-derived botanicals.  The products are made from 100% natural ingredients, and according to Gabriel Cosmetics, “No synthetic chemicals or animal by-products are utilized and no testing is ever done on animals.”

The first thing I noticed when I tried my first Gabriel Cosmetics Lipstick was that the texture was extremely smooth and the color (Raisin) was extremely flattering.  The lipstick formula did not seem dry like some other natural lipsticks can be, and I was immediately impressed by this Gabriel Cosmetics product.  While I was concerned that Raisin would be too deep a color, I was relieved to see that it was actually a very pretty color that was more along the lines of a creamy berry than a strong raisin.

Gabriel Cosmetics Lipstick is actually very easy to layer for more or for less color intensity, making it a very versatile lip color product.  Also, the semi-sheer formula is actually pretty long-lasting for a lipstick.  Gabriel Cosmetics Lipstick is truly a high-quality and flattering lipstick containing all natural ingredients, such as jojoba oil, sesame oil, vitamin A, and  St. John’s Wort extract!  I highly recommend trying out these lipsticks at your nearest Whole Foods!  Retail price:  US$15.25 at GabrielCosmeticsInc.com.

Maple Shimmer – A sheer maple-berry with a hints of very subtle shimmer.
Raisin – A semi-sheer neutral berry-raisin with hints of mauve and creamy rose.

Gabriel Cosmetics Lipstick comes in a nice range of flattering colors, though my shade descriptions differ slightly from those on the Gabriel Cosmetics website.  At any rate, I think Gabriel Cosmetics Lipstick in Raisin is a universally-flattering shade, though it is somewhat similar to Maple Shimmer, which looks slightly cooler on the skin.  I also like the look of Clay, a cool mauve cream shade.
