Harajuku Lovers is an award-winning fragrance line by Gwen Stefani and Coty, inspired by playful girlish street styles from Japan’s fashionable Harajuku district and by Gwen Stefani’s backup dancers. The Harajuku Lovers fragrance line includes six unique fragrances bottled in sugary cute packaging, each representing a unique girl and a unique style. The scents are named Love, Lil’ Angel, Music, Baby, and G.

Meilily: Harajuku Lovers Love - Box and Bottle

The product description for Harajuku Lovers Love on Sephora.com describes the scent as follows: “Sweet, caring, and free-spirited, Love is always off in her own little world. Stepping out in a cute, striped mini-dress and fashionable red kicks, Love wears her heart on her sleeve, or rather, in her hair!”

To me, the Love fragrance smells uniquely complex and slightly watery, and, thankfully, it is not powdery and has just the right amount of warmth.  Unlike the strong initial coconut note in Harajuku Lovers G fragrance, Love instead starts out as a light and gently-fruity floral, then dries down to a distant yet rich white floral scent. I think the pink pomelo and vanilla orchid notes really make this fragrance.

I love that the Harajuku Lovers fragrances come in several sizes, where the small 10ml eau de toilette spray costs only US$25, a 1 ounce bottle is US$45, and a solid coffret set with all 6 fragrances is US$60-65. The Harajuku Lovers fragrance bottles come with cute molded plastic Harajuku character caps, though the large tester bottles at Sephora just come in regular cylindrical glass bottles, without the special caps. [Note: Some retailers like Sephora have increased the price of the smallest bottle to $30, but Beauty.com is still selling it for $25 as of 3.24.09!]

Harajuku Lovers fragrances also come in a super-cute deluxe fragrance sample card set of all six fragrances.  This deluxe fragrance sample was given out free during an Allure and Nordstrom fragrance offer last year, but the samples may still be available at fragrance counters.
