Meilily's Nordstrom Estee Lauder Gift with Purchase '08

I have never really been tempted by Estee Lauder skincare or cosmetics, but the current Nordstrom Estee Lauder gift with purchase offer really made me pay attention.  Also, a study, recently mentioned in Allure magazine, wherein Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Serum Concentrate was shown to help prevent UV damage caught my attention too.

So, in the name of scientific investigation I went to Nordstrom and picked up the current Estee Lauder gift with purchase. Read on for shopping strategies and product photos. 

Meilily Shopping Strategy

Goal: Test out the Advanced Night Repair Concentrate to see how the key ingredients work in real life, and also qualify for the gift with purchase while we’re at it.

Problem: Advanced Night Repair Concentrate (the product used in the study) costs $85 for 1 fluid ounce. Ouch! Very unaffordable. Moreover, the minimum purchase to get the amazing gift with purchase is about $40.

Best Solution: Since my pocketbook would not permit me to purchase the concentrated serum, I decided to test out the less concentrated serum, Advanced Night Repair Protective Recovery Complex, which costs $46.50 for the 1 fl. Oz, bottle, or $73 for the 1.7 fl. oz. bottle (effectively $42.94 per ounce), and qualify for the gift with purchase.

Alternative Solution: Unfortunately, the Nordstrom counter only sold the Advanced Night Repair Protective Recovery Complex in the larger size. Ouch- but wait… You could choose a 0.5 fl. oz. bottle of the same product as one of your free gift items. So, to stay close to the $40 minimum purchase price point, you can instead purchase the Advanced Night Repair Eye Recovery Complex ($48 for 0.5 fl.oz.), which supposedly contains the same key ingredients as the serums, and also try the serum for “free.” [Yes, creative mental accounting is your friend.]
