Exciting news! L’Occitane’s limited edition makeup collection is here! In select L’Occitane stores only, this rare garden-inspired Peony Makeup Collection is a must-see.
While wandering through a L’Occitane shop, I was drawn to a display of what appeared to be colorful flower seed packets. Imagine my surprise when I realized that L’Occitane, best known as a bath and skincare brand, has a new makeup collection out, and a pretty one at that. Each limited edition makeup shade is named after a particular peony.
Meilily’s top picks from the L’Occitane Peony Makeup Collection:
- Liquid Shine Lip Colour in 01 Marie Riviere (a flattering medium-pigmented gloss inspired by a “delicate salmon-pink peony,” according to L’Occitane)
- Facecolour Powder in 02 Valse de Vienne (a pretty “glossy pale pink” blush/eyeshadow)
- Lipstick in 03 Mme Louis Henry (a very sheer warm-pink shimmer lipstick inspired by “a pink peony with old-gold patina reflections”)

Meilily Product Photos: Sublime Balkiss Parfum by The Different Company!
I purchased a bottle of Sublime Balkiss by The Different Company on a whim during a trip to Barneys, likely feeling overwhelmed by their selection of fragrances and by the over-attentiveness of their staff. In the end, I am actually quite pleased with Sublime Balkiss: the subtle complexity and uniqueness of the perfume and the quality of The Different Company’s products and packaging.
The Different Company is a luxury fragrance brand that uses a high concentration of natural ingredients with the nose of perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena, who has created fragrances for brands like Hermes, Cartier, and Van Cleef & Arpels, along with his perfumer daughter Celine. Their fragrance creations are unconventionally unisex and each is designed to have a different desired overall “olfactory effect.” The Different Company has even been awarded a Green label by Greenpeace!

Meilily Hot Happenings! Glamour “Fashion Gives Back” Designer Totes for Charity!
What do fashion designers, a women’s charity, and Glamour magazine have in common? Helping others through design!
Right now, as part of Glamour Magazine’s Fashion Gives Back program, you can pick up special designer canvas tote bags exclusively at Bloomingdales NY (or Bloomingdales.com) for $35 each, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Dress for Success!
Glamour got six talented young designers to each design a Fashion Gives Back tote to benefit out-of-work women who need a boost. Tote bag designers include Jason Wu, the young Taiwanese designer who’s dresses have graced First Lady Michelle Obama on her first Vogue cover (and at President Obama’s inauguration), and also Brian Reyes, design duo Bensoni, jewelry designer Pamela Love, Gossip Girl designer Abigail Lorick, and shoe designer Alejandro Ingelmo.
Meilily’s two favorite Fashion Gives Back totes this year are from Jason Wu (his black gradient design is both elegant and exciting) and Brian Reyes (his red and black floral tote looks at once exotic yet strangely familiar).

The Harajuku Lovers fragrance line includes six unique fragrances bottled in sugary cute packaging, each representing a unique girl and a unique style. The scents are named Love, Lil’ Angel, Music, Baby, and G.
