If you like cute cat designs like I do, you’ll love the Shu Uemura Limited Edition Holiday Collection, which includes this Mini Brush Set designed by Japanese fashion designer, Tsumori Chisato. Luckily, the Tsumori Chisato makeup brush set, complete with super-cute winking cat design, is currently still available online at the Shu Uemura website for a limited time. Unfortunately, this collection has been out for a while and Shu Uemura is pulling it’s US brick and mortar shops, so your best bet is getting these online.

Even the box that the Tsumori Chisato Mini Brush Set comes in is fantastically cute – with gold metallic stars and, again, that adorable winking black cat!

Meilily Off-Beat Product Pick & Photos: Lucha Keys, Stretch Pants for Keys!
I have been on a Luchador kick lately, so I just couldn’t resist showing these luchador-inspired key jackets by Fred & Friends, though key jackets are a far cry from the beauty and style products typically featured on Meilily. To be fair, Lucha Keys are described as “stretch pants for keys,” so keys can be stylish too!

Meilily Product Photos: Kiehl’s Celebrity-Designed Acai Toning Mists!
What do recording artist Pharrell Williams, actress Julianne Moore, artist Jeff Koons, and model Malia Jones have in common? They have all designed limited edition labels for Kiehl’s Acai Damage-Protecting Toning Mist, with up to $200,000 of net profits from the sale of the celebrity Toning Mists going to the Rainforest Alliance.
These 100% organic Limited Edition Acai Toning Mists are available in Kiehl’s stores now for $26 for a 6 fl. oz. spray bottle (same price as the regular bottles). These lavender-scented toning face mists are are my current “hot product” picks for Spring and Summer. The limited editions may also be slight reformulations of the regular Acai Toning Mist, which also contains “100% natural origin ingredients” but do not say they are “100% organic.”

Meilily Product Photos: Sublime Balkiss Parfum by The Different Company!
I purchased a bottle of Sublime Balkiss by The Different Company on a whim during a trip to Barneys, likely feeling overwhelmed by their selection of fragrances and by the over-attentiveness of their staff. In the end, I am actually quite pleased with Sublime Balkiss: the subtle complexity and uniqueness of the perfume and the quality of The Different Company’s products and packaging.
The Different Company is a luxury fragrance brand that uses a high concentration of natural ingredients with the nose of perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena, who has created fragrances for brands like Hermes, Cartier, and Van Cleef & Arpels, along with his perfumer daughter Celine. Their fragrance creations are unconventionally unisex and each is designed to have a different desired overall “olfactory effect.” The Different Company has even been awarded a Green label by Greenpeace!

Meilily Product Photos: Ineke Perfumes Sample Collection!
Nothing makes me happier than a good sampler set, and I was in heaven when I discovered that Ineke Perfumes has a fantastic and affordable sample collection of Ineke Eau de Parfum Sprays.
The Ineke Deluxe Sample Collection is extremely well done and packaged amazingly. You get six unique deluxe samples of fragrance (A-F), each mini spray bottle (1.5 ml) individually packaged in a little matchstick size box and then placed in a beautiful pull-out box decorated with lovely calligraphy.

Lipstick Queen’s Butterfly Ball collection of lipsticks has gotten some buzz, particularly since this collection is inspired by the famous quote from legendary boxer Mohammed Ali, “Float like a butterfly and sting like a bee.”
These lipsticks seem to be an exercise in juxtaposition – like sweet and sour or butterfly wings and bee stings – with the “sting” coming from the turquoise blue-purple flash of shimmer in each lipstick.

Meilily Makeover Report!
Remember the makeover I won in last October’s Thi Cosmetics Halloween Costume Contest? Well, I’m finally getting around to providing details on the makeover by one of my favorite makeup artists, Taylor Pham, founder of Thi Cosmetics!
Here’s a look at what the whole makeover entailed and the products used (at least what I can recall). Unfortunately, I was so busy enjoying getting made over by Taylor Pham, I forgot to check on many of the products she used on me…
- Taylor started by prepping my hair: dried it with a blow drier, curled it with a curling iron, and then placed it all in rollers (particularly big rollers up top). Then she let it set throughout the rest of the makeover.
- Next up: brow waxing and plucking. I could tell this was an important step in Taylor’s recommended beauty regimen, but I definitely had not been maintaining my brows! Tsk tsk!

These whimsical Irregular Choice Space Snacks Boots were a rare find on Endless.com last season, and their blue retro space-cowboy design with red patterned soles made me an instant fan of Irregular Choice shoes.

Down the Aisle: Wedding Stories Tales from real-life as this bride reluctantly navigates the wedding industry and heads down the aisle toward perfect bliss… oh, and perfect flowers, the perfect dress, the perfect ceremony…
Ring Shopping: Stage 1. Trying on rings and finding the right style (Part 2)
Continuing the ring shopping adventures from Part 1: A lot learned…
Random acts of desperation:
- Shreve & Co - We stop by the San Francisco store near closing time out of desperation to find something interesting. Shreve & Co has a decent selection of higher end brand name rings for women and men, however many of the rings look alike and do not jump out at me. The service is polite and the rings are pretty nice, but they aren’t quite my style – too classic, if that is possible. (Stopping by Shreve & Co in Palo Alto on a different day, staff there did not offer to help at all and largely ignored us. Wow!)
- Tiffany & Co. - I enter reluctantly, as my impression of Tiffany & Co is that they mostly have sterling silver baubles. Turns out they do have gold and platinum engagement rings, but the Tiffany’s experience leaves an odd taste in my mouth. Theirs is mostly a small selection of large diamonds on thick prongs (boring!), plus, sales staff seems oddly bored and reluctant to help.
Back to Cartier to Try a Ring in my Size!
- Cartier – Definitely less in awe the second time around, I confirm that my ring size is indeed European size “tiny,” but also realize that proportion and size both matter a lot. Proportional sizing can really change a ring remarkably. —› › Continue reading

Meilily Product Testing: Will using RapidLash result in thicker lashes?
With all the fuss and controversy over prescription and non-prescription lash growth serums and their potential side-effects, it is often difficult to tell truth from fiction, good products from bad products. Meilily is here to get you the real scoop on the popular non-prescription lash growth serum, RapidLash, by testing it out over the next several weeks to see if it really works.
The controversy over lash growth products started with the possible iris-discoloring side effects of the first FDA-approved eyelash growth product, prescription-only Latisse. Latisse contains the same active ingredient level of lash-growing prostaglandin as a drug that was used to treat glaucoma but which left some glaucoma patients with permanent iris darkening. Apparently Latisse helped patients in a clinical study grow their lashes about 25 percent longer and about twice the fullness! Would you trade lush lashes for stained irises? —› › Continue reading
