Nail polish is the new lipstick, and if you haven’t been under a rock in the last year you know that creative nail polish art has gone mainstream. Nail product giant Sally Hansen has kept up with the nail art trend and has updated their fun-and-easy nail polish strips line, Salon Effects, to include more patterns like this handwritten love letter polish.
Reminiscent of the cool DIY newsprint nail polish look, these handwritten polish strips combine a DIY modern feel with a hint of old-school paper and ink, but without all the extra steps, paper cuts or consumption.

To celebrate my first time wearing nail polish after a long hiatus, I thought I’d start off with a new polish I’ve been dying to try by Sheswai Lacquer. What makes Sheswai Lacquer stand out is their gorgeous bottles with custom sustainably harvested wood caps and their beautiful 3 Free color selection. Not only are Sheswai nail polishes free of formaldehyde, DBP and toluene, › Continue reading

Bite Beauty is a new Sephora-exclusive product line that immediately turned my head, in part because of the elegant simplicity of the textured grey packaging with glossy red lettering, but also because of the alluring range of shades and textures – all just for lips. Also, the fact that Bite Beauty lip products contain food-grade ingredients and the resveratrol equivalent of five glasses of red wine is kinda cool too.
To try out the Bite Beauty line, I picked up a Bite Beauty High Pigment Matte Pencil in Honey Berry, because it looked gorgeously mauve-nude swiped on my hand and because it reminded me of my beloved Nars Velvet Matte Pencil formula. How did it stack up?

Given how much I “heart” Priti Soy Nail Polish Remover, I’m rather surprised that is has taken me this long to try Priti Nail Polish, a non-toxic, 3 Free nail polish developed to be safe for children and expectant moms.
As part of my very first Priti Nail Polish haul, I picked up an intriguing neutral shade called Sweet Sultan, described as a “matted gray rose” on the Priti website. Sweet Sultan by Priti NYC has since become one of my favorite nail polish shades ever, a really great work-to-play neutral polish. It’s even up there with my favorite Paul & Joe Beaute Nail Enamel in 05 Teacup.

Started out a doubter, but now I’m a lover…
When I received a few products from the new Benefit Cosmetics b.Right! skincare line in my mailbox, I didn’t actually expect to be that impressed, since makeup, in my opinion, has always been Benefit’s strongest suit.
Well, I was wrong to doubt Benefit’s ability to bring it with b.Right! I am absolutely loving the two Benefit b.Right! cleansers that I’ve tried, the Refined Finish Facial Polish and the Foamingly Clean Facial Wash. They make me feel more girly and more… clean.
The thing I love the most about the new Benefit b.Right! Radiant Skincare line is the fragrance: a fresh, pretty, and well-groomed bright floral that has just enough sparkle to make it interesting and modern. I want to say the scent is “perky,” › Continue reading

So far so good, with only one chip and a whole lot of shine! Check out these photos and swatches from Day 5 of my CND Shellac gel manicure in shade Strawberry Smoothie!
*If you missed it, you can view photos and swatches from Day 1 of my Shellac manicure here, with details on the gel manicure process and where to get it done! As you may have heard, gel nail polish is supposed to last without chipping between two to three weeks if done right. Is that true? Find out here!
Day 5 Shellac Manicure Results & Photos…
I was still very happy with my gel manicure, even on Day 5! The shine and gloss lasted impeccably without any dulling, and my nails looked freshly manicured. Amazing! The only chip to report by Day 5 actually happened on Day 2 of this gel manicure- How embarrassing!
I swear my Day 2 chip resulted from a fluke nail-caught-in-teeth accident that I cannot explain. › Continue reading

Meilily Product Pick, Photos & Swatches: Long-lasting CND Shellac Gel Nail Polish Manicure!
If you’re like me and can’t help but mess up a manicure before even leaving the salon chair – painted nails a scraggly mess by day two – then you’re in luck! There is a revolutionary new nail polish, gel nail polish, that is rapidly rising in popularity. It is a cross between a regular polish and gel nails set with UV light. This gel polish is painted onto natural nails just like regular polish, but cured under UV light layer by layer.
I recently tested out this new gel manicure and came away with my fingernails transformed into glossy, shiny gems of polished goodness, an effect that lasted two whole weeks!

Meilily Product Swatches: Comparing Three Benefit Cosmetics Highlighters!
As requested, here are some swatches that will help you compare the three Benefit Cosmetics highlighters: Girl Meets Pearl, High Beam, and Moon Beam.
Benefit Cosmetics‘ first pink liquid highlighter, High Beam, quickly became a popular beauty staple, and more recently Benefit created Moon Beam, the next addition to their liquid highlighter family. Now, with the launch of the new Girl Meets Pearl luminizer, it has gotten pretty hard to tell all these Benefit liquid highlighters apart.
Meilily to the rescue! Believe me, after you see these highlighters swatched side by side, you will see a difference… Check out Meilily’s Benefit highlighter comparison swatches: › Continue reading

Meilily Product Photos & Swatches: Benefit Cosmetics Moon Beam Iridescent Complexion Enhancer!
Following on the success of their popular High Beam pink highlighting liquid, Benefit Cosmetics has created a new sister-product called Moon Beam. Moon Beam is a “golden apricot” illuminating liquid that is similar to High Beam but with pinkish iridescent shimmer instead of silver-pink iridescence.
Moon Beam comes in a glass bottle with a built-in nail polish brush cap. Since it is not a very runny formula, it is probably best blended with fingers or a sponge.
