Made with shea butter, MAX Factor’s new semi-sheer Vivid Impact Lipcolor comes in a range of pure pigment shades designed by P&G Global Creative Design Director Pat McGrath. According to MAX Factor, “The ultra rich, pure pigment lipcolor offers head-turning looks from classic to bold, but always vivid.”

I tried this lipstick in Rose Rage, a pretty mauve rose shade with a subtle and trendy hint of fuschia. The creamy and moisturizing color starts out a sheer pink, and is buildable for more oomph. If you want to wear the latest bright pink lipstick featured by magazines and on runways but you just want to head to the grocery store, this is a lipstick shade for you.

Boots No 7 skincare is in the news again!   New research apparently confirms the efficacy of yet another Boots No 7 anti-aging product, and reminds us of what happened the last time Boots skincare was in the news…

Boots is the UK beauty product manufacturer that fueled the desire of women everywhere two years ago when their extremely popular Boots No 7 Protect & Perfect Beauty Serum (a.k.a Restore & Renew in the US) was shown to increase the youthful appearance of skin. [Remember how that very same Boots anti-aging serum sold out everywhere immediately following a BBC television show announcing its positive anti-aging results?]

This time it won’t be Boots’ Protect & Perfect serum flying off the shelves. Instead, the mass-market product at the center of the latest scientific study is the Boots No 7 Protect & Perfect Intense Beauty Serum.

Results from a new year-long scientific double-blind study funded by Boots and published online today in the British Journal of Dermatology showed the anti-aging efficacy of the Boots No 7 Protect & Perfect Intense Beauty Serum, demonstrating “for the first time, that a commercially available over-the-counter ‘anti-ageing’ product improves the appearance of facial wrinkles when used in the long term.”

The same research team has apparently found that both the original Boots No 7 Protect & Perfect Beauty Serum and the Boots No 7 Protect & Perfect Intense Beauty Serum can stimulate production of a protein that promotes skin elasticity called fibrillin-1. The latest study links the improvement of facial wrinkles in photo-aged skin to the serum’s ability to restore this fibrillin-1 protein, but does not specifically breakdown the particular contribution of key ingredients to this effect.

While geeky gadgets don’t typically fit in the realm of fashion and style, Jawbone headsets made by Aliph are changing that.  While other bluetooth headset makers have started targeting fashion-conscious female consumers with girly colors and blinged-out carrying cases, Jawbone is really the first headset to truly turn heads, both male and female, based on good product design alone.

Jawbone headsets originally rose to stardom in the gadget world for their patented NoiseAssassin noise elimination technology (once developed for military use), however the original Jawbone headsets were a bit large and clunky. The second generation re-designed Jawbone headsets (a.k.a. Jawbone II) were smaller, sturdier, and used different ear hooks, and unfortunately they started making them in market-pressured metallic-frost colors like Rambling Rose and Babbling Blue. IMHO the basic black Jawbone looks just fine!

The March 2009 issue of Vogue Magazine features an historic and inspirational cover photograph of First Lady Michelle Obama, photographed by Annie Leibovitz.  Looking relaxed, confident and real in the cover photograph, Michelle Obama is poised and calm in repose, wearing a beautiful magenta silk dress by Jason Wu.

It just might be true that Michelle Obama really is “the First Lady the world’s been waiting for” as Vogue Magazine has dubbed her.  Michelle Obama, who can pull off wearing both designer fashions as well as off-the-rack clothing from J. Crew and White House | Black Market, does not come across as stiff or guarded as First Ladies sometimes can.  We just can’t seem to get enough of First Lady Michelle Obama’s reachable style and down-to-earth presence.
