Meilily Featured ShopStyle Look: Paris-inspired Print Blouse & Full Skirt for Summer/Fall!
If you’ve ever been to Paris and found yourself gazing longingly at any of the gorgeously understated shop windows, you’ll understand the inspiration for this Featured Look.
On my first trip to Paris, I stumbled upon an amazing window display for Parisian label, Cotelac. So delightful! Such casual sophistication!
When I soon discovered that an outfit of such understated sophistication as seen in the Cotelac shop window was not to be had for less than US$1,000, I vowed to return home and recreate the look for less.
Here is an admittedly more American take on the print blouse & full skirt combo inspired by Cotelac:
The look centers on a sheer print top in an enchanting woodsy green shade like this Maggie Ward silk blouse or a DKNY chiffon blouse with animal print (if you like that sort of thing). Of course you’ll need a full neutral skirt like this Gun Print skirt by Porcelain (found at Modcloth) or › Continue reading

Erica Weiner is still one of my favorite indie jewelry makers. From the ingenuity and whimsy of her best-selling handcuff lariat necklace, and now to the vintage sweetness of her letterpress lyrics heart necklaces, there’s something extra special about Erica Weiner’s pieces.
Earlier this year, during a sale, I picked up a couple Sweetheart Necklaces by Erica Weiner with custom stamped text on both sides. The one inch brass heart is like a larger and flatter sweetheart candy heart on a 16″ chain, and with custom, slightly imperfect, letterpress lettering it looks rather striking and feels one-of-a-kind.
I chose to customize the necklaces with lyrics › Continue reading

Way back in March I finally ordered my very first Melissa Joy Manning jewelry piece, though I had been drooling over her jewelry for quite some time. Luckily I had the perfect excuse to shop, since Melissa Joy Manning was giving 100% of Sales of the Moonstone Ring to Red Cross Haiti relief efforts.

When Leanne Mai-ly Hilgart graduated from business school and founded her own company, we all got pretty lucky, because the company she started was Vaute Couture, bringing us drool-worthy vegan coats made from eco-friendly recycled materials. Vaute Couture is now starting to push the concept of vegan clothing to the forefront of fashion consciousness.
Vaute Couture first caught my attention last Fall when I saw their stylish weather-resistant coats online during a pre-sale. When I found out that I could help finance their new production of Fall coats just by purchasing one in advance at the discounted pre-sale price, I was sold!
*Right now you can get 25% off new Vaute Couture coats with code LOVEYOU2 in celebration of their being named Company of the Year in the 2010 Veggie Awards.

During my birthday month, Anthroplogie personally sent me a lovely birthday card and birthday gift. So thoughtful of them to remember my birthday! I know how busy they must be coming up with the cutest clothing every season, but they somehow managed to remember!
Perhaps it helped that I am an Anthropologie “member.” I originally signed up because it’s free and I like to shop there – plus they give you a membership card, the Anthro Card, in a really cute fabric drawstring bag. Since then, I have discovered some nice perks to being an Anthro account holder, including free shipping and now a surprise birthday gift!

Meilily Featured ShopStyle Look: Camel & Capes for Fall!
Gearing up for warm Fall spices, jewel-tones, and soft textures with uber-trendy jeggings.
Judging from the trends at the Fashion’s Night Out runway show (webcast), it looks like Camel is the hot color for Fall fashion! This Look centers around a beautiful Alexander McQueen Wool Kimono Cape in Camel ($3,420). A girl can dream, can’t she?!
The one thing in this look that I probably won’t be wearing anytime soon is the jeggings (jean leggings). Despite the fact that jeggings make my legs look like two fighting elephant seals, I so want them to look good on someone else – perhaps someone wearing a classy camel-colored cape…

OK, what could be better than free jeans?! How about free Levi’s Curve ID Jeans, a new product from Levi’s specifically designed to fit more than just one type (er shape) of woman.
I recently attended a Levi’s Curve ID launch event in San Francisco at the Union Square Levi’s shop. I got to meet You Nguyen, SVP of Levi’s Women’s Merchandising and Design, who gave a demo that illustrated precisely why women traditionally have such a hard time finding jeans that fit based on size (but not shape). I even got to to try free Curve ID jeans!
*Friday, Sept. 17, 2010 Get a free pair of Levi’s Curve ID jeans at the San Francisco Levi’s store at 300 Post St. Just bring in an old pair of jeans to get free Curve ID jeans! First come first serve!
Photos and Details: How the New Curve ID Jeans Fit Different Women…
Levi’s developed Curve ID jeans after researching body shape variations in women and surveying real women. The new jeans are sized not just by waist size but by the ratio or difference between a woman’s natural waist, upper hip, and butt measurements- her real shape!
The Three Levi’s Curve ID (Lower) Body Shape Types:
- Slight Curve (straighter from waist to butt)
- Demi Curve (average proportion between waist and butt)
- Bold Curve (more difference or curve between waist and butt)

Meilily Hot Happenings & Haul Report: Barneys Sale = Marni Heels!
SF Barneys Warehouse Sale Highlights:
Not expecting to find much, I headed straight for the Barneys Women’s Shoes section at the back. (The women’s handbag and accessories selection was dismal, btw.) The first Sunday of the SF sale wasn’t too crowded and there was room to sit down and try on shoes. With shoes arranged by size in typical clearance fashion, only the right mate was available on the racks. Note: Each shoe box gets sealed with rope before you can take it over to the registers! Talk about security!
After trying on some ill-fitting Prada wedges and a chic Italian multi-strap zippered heel (just a little too large), I found some super-comfortable and cute Marni suede heels (photo below) that hugged my feet when I put them on. I was immediately sold!

Check out Meilily’s look from last night’s Benefit Cosmetics blogger party at the San Francisco Benefit Boutique!
I attended the Benefit blogger event to preview their three new Fall 2010 products, and had a great time! What’s not to love about meeting and chatting with Benefit’s awesome Global Trend Artist, Annie Ford Danielson (daughter of one of Benefit’s founding sisters), and also trying out hot new beauty products while sipping mini cocktails with cupcakes and grilled cheese from the new American Cupcake shop?! So glad I went!
Hope you enjoyed this look! from Meilily
