Meilily Product Picks for Valentine’s Day
Now, Valentine’s Day is not a “holiday” that I celebrate, and I usually find that red and pink hearts just don’t do it for me. So, as a reminder that beautiful things can still have a heart shape, I proclaim these heart-shaped earrings by Erica Anenberg to be acceptable – beautiful in a simple and clean way.
(left to right: Small Heart Hook Earrings by Erica Anenberg, 14k gold plated, *regular price $92; Big Heart Hook Earrings by Erica Anenberg, 14k gold plated, *regular price $104)
**These Erica Anenberg earrings are currently on sale for 50% off at HauteLook.com, a by-invitation shopping site. These Erica Anenberg products are only on sale at HauteLook for the next 31 hours or so (~until the evening of January 29, 2009), and items sometimes sell out. (If you are not currently a HauteLook member, feel free to contact me asap so that I can send you a HauteLook membership invitation so you can shop special sales!! I’m at gmail for this: meilily.meilily is the name!)

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009 | Product Picks, Sales, Stores | No Comments
Meilily Sale Alert and Product Pick!
Greenloop, a “green” online shop, is currently having a fantastic 30% off sale on Envirosax bags, the best reusable shopping bags ever! If I were to make a list of products that have actually made my life way easier, I would put Envirosax Reusable Shopping Bags on the list.
What: Greenloop 30% Off Envirosax Sale + Free Shipping Offer
Greenloop Free Shipping Code: BYOB09
When: Until February 2, 2009
Envirosax reusable bags are roomy, durable, attractive, and also very easy to store. I can attest to stuffing these full of heavy groceries without any problem. The Envirosax bags are made of lightweight polyester, printed using a non-fading process, and are supposed to be waterproof. Another thing that sets the Envirosax shopping bags apart from other bags is their self-closing feature (you can’t see it in product photos)- Just roll up a bag and the snap closure loops attached to the bottom wrap easily around the bag for compact storage. › Continue reading

Currently both sites feature the same special deal for a free bottle of Misa nail polish (through Misa Cosmetics) until the end of January. (See the Scrangie free polish post and Polish Addict post for details.)
Meilily Product Pick: Cruelty-free Kabuki Brush by Stript
Saturday, January 24th, 2009 | Photos, Product Picks, Tools and Brushes | 2 Comments
Meilily has found the most amazing makeup brush ever, and you’re gonna love it!
The Kabuki Brush #181 by Stript Makeup is hands down the best kabuki brush ever! Not only is this brush super soft and extremely dense, but it is also made of vegan synthetic bristles that are cruelty-free. You can’t beat a makeup brush that works well and is also cruelty-free!
The taklon bristles on the Stript Kabuki Brush are even crimped, unlike most synthetic bristles out there, and apparently crimped synthetic bristles are more similar to natural hairs and can hold makeup better than straight synthetic bristles. When I heard that the Stript Kabuki Brush was crimped, I was sold!
The Stript Kabuki Brush retails for $38, and is well worth it. Kabuki brushes can be used to apply mineral makeup, blush, and more. To find out more about Stript Makeup and to find beauty stores where Stript products are sold, check out their website, StriptMakeup.com. The Stript Kabuki Brush is currently available on Amazon through Beauty Collection, where I got mine.

Cosmetics Settlement Distribution Has Begun: Get Your Free Product!
Tuesday, January 20th, 2009 | Beauty and the Law, Free Stuff, Hot Happenings, Makeup, Skincare | 2 Comments
How Meilily got a free cosmetics product courtesy of In re Cosmetics Cases
Now that the In re Cosmetics Cases settlement distribution date is upon us, here is what it was like getting a free settlement product this morning…
I stopped by my local Nordstrom when it opened today at 10 am to pick up the free product owed to me under the cosmetics settlement (ok, maybe”owed” is not the right word). What can I say, I was very excited to see how the settlement products would actually be distributed, and I wanted to be there early!
When I arrived, Nordstrom already had tables set up at the mall entrance near the cosmetics department, and a small line had already started forming along a roped path. If I didn’t know better I would have thought there was a fancy special event happening there. (Luckily the line seemed to die down quickly after the initial 10 am crowd.) › Continue reading

BeautyHabit.com Clearance Sale + Free Shipping Code!
Thursday, January 8th, 2009 | Fragrance, Free Stuff, Makeup, Sales, Skincare, Stores | No Comments
BeautyHabit.com just announced their clearance sale and also another free shipping code for orders over $40. Trust me, this is a good thing! BeautyHabit.com has a great selection of higher-end candles and beauty products, and rarely offers discount codes (free shipping usually starts at orders of $100). The sale includes products by Sundari, The Art of Shaving, Comptoir Sud Pacifique, Lollia, and more. Note: Sales of clearance items are final, so do choose wisely!
BeautyHabit.com Free Shipping Code: FRESHSTART (for orders of $40 or more)
When: January 8-16, 2009
Meilily recommends checking out the BURN candles on clearance – These candles (developed by the founder of Studio at Fred Segal) are supposed to be fantastic!
*Btw, don’t forget the free shipping / free samples BeautyHabit code I posted about previously for orders of only $35 or more!

Beauty and the Law: Class Action Cosmetic Cases Settlement – Consumers Get One Free Product
Tuesday, January 6th, 2009 | Beauty and the Law, Free Stuff, Hot Happenings, Makeup, Stores | 3 Comments
A while back there was a class action lawsuit brought against several large cosmetics companies and department stores by their customers, claiming conspiracy to fix the price of cosmetics (a.k.a. agreeing to never let cosmetics go on sale) between 1994 and 2003. Come to think of it, I always thought it was strange that department stores only offered gift with purchases for cosmetics rather than, say, just a 25% off sale in the beauty department.
Anyway, the class action lawsuit has apparently settled, and as part of that settlement, the cosmetics companies and department stores involved, including Estee Lauder, L’Oreal, Nordstrom, and Macy’s, will be offering relevant consumers…one free product of their choice starting January 20, 2009. See the settlement website, http://www.cosmeticssettlement.com, for details, or keep reading for more information, a list of participating retailers, and a list of available products. › Continue reading
