Limited Time Only: Invitation Codes to Member-Only Online Designer Sales with Bonus Credits!
Friday, November 28th, 2008 | General, Lingerie, Sales, Skincare, Stores | 1 Comment
The latest development in online shopping is member-only websites selling designer products at large discounts. These member-only shopping sites, such as Gilt.com and Hautelook.com, notify their members of the online sales on a per-designer basis, but there’s a catch: each online sale only lasts for a limited time before “closing.”
These member-only sites work largely on the basis of generating urgency and feelings of exclusivity, and certain products sell out quite quickly. Unfortunately, sites such as HauteLook.com often do not ship products until well after the end of the sales period, so shoppers may have to give up some shipping speed in exchange for prices that are usually 50-70% off retail.
Here are some limited time only invitation codes provided by InStyle Magazine:
- Hautelook.com code: “instyle” (membership plus $20 off first purchase) until December 1, 2008.
- Gilt Groupe invite: go to http://www.gilt.com/whatsnow (membership plus $10 off first order) until November 31, 2008.
[While these offers have ended, you can still use this Gilt Groupe invitation link from Meilily to join Gilt and start shopping designer sales!)
So, in the name of research, I used these invitation codes from the November 2008 issue of InStyle magazine and signed up › Continue reading
25% off Beauty, Skincare, and More at BeautyHabit!
Tuesday, November 25th, 2008 | General | No Comments
I am very excited about this latest BeautyHabit.com discount code: Use code BHCANDY for 25% off at BeautyHabit.com. This discount for Daily Candy readers goes until November 30, 2008.
BeautyHabit carries some harder-to-find brands like Paul & Joe [dying to try their products], Strange Invisible Perfumes, Komenuka Bijin, Tracie Martyn Skincare, and more. So, this is a good time to try these high-end brands, especially since beauty discount codes historically have only gone up to 20% off. Don’t forget to check the BeautyHabit site for their monthly specials too!
Paul & Joe Beaute is also available on BeautyHabit through ShopStyle -
[Thanks to Yummie Bitez for posting about the code and her Paul & Joe haul.]
Teachers and Students Get 15% off J.Crew!
Saturday, November 22nd, 2008 | General, Sales, Stores | 1 Comment
Know any fashionable teachers or students out there? Well, J.Crew is offering all teachers and college students a 15% discount off of any in-store purchase. This is a great ongoing, but little-known, discount for teachers (with a valid school ID) and students (with a valid student ID).
J.Crew currently does not seem to limit the use of the discount, except to purchases in-store with proper ID, so it is a great discount to combine with a J.Crew sale.
[I tried using the 15% student discount on top of a storewide 20% off sale, and it worked quite easily!]

Special Sale at Bliss!
Sunday, November 16th, 2008 | Fragrance, Lingerie, Makeup, Sales, Skincare, Stores | 3 Comments
Just wanted to let you know about a very special Bliss sale going on at blissworld.com:
The Bliss Employee Sale is going on right now for a limited time, and there have been a bunch of really nice, high-end cosmetics, skincare, and general beauty products on sale at huge discounts (up to 70% off). Products have been selling out rather quickly during this sale, but there have been great deals on products ranging from Laura Mercier and Sue Devitt makeup to MBT shoes and Wolford lingerie. Recently, Bliss even added more products to their Employee Sale online.
This is a great time to buy high-end products you normally covet but cannot afford. [Just remember, the Bliss return policy does not seem to allow returns on sale items.]

Product Pick: L’Oreal Skin Genesis Serum Concentrate
Saturday, November 15th, 2008 | Product Picks, Sales, Skincare | 1 Comment
If you want high quality skincare that contains the latest advanced ingredients at an affordable price, you may tire yourself out looking for such a thing. Fortunately, I found L’Oreal’s Skin Genesis line of products, the Skin Genesis Serum Concentrate in particular. I discovered that this particular drugstore skincare product can compete with skincare products that cost many times more.
Not to name names, but… after trying an expensive hyaluronic acid product by Cellex-C (ie. Cellex-C Hydra 5B Complex) that costs $73 for a 30 ml bottle, I felt that I got similar skin benefits after using L’Oreal’s Skin Genesis Serum Concentrate, which also contains hyaluronic acid.
Out of all the Skin Genesis products, the Serum Concentrate is the best! Comparing the ingredient lists of all the Skin Genesis products, I always find myself much more attracted to the ingredients in the Serum Concentrate product than in any other. It is my daily go-to product, and I like it enough to bother stuffing it into a jam-packed 1 quart plastic bag and taking it with me on the plane when I travel. The twist-lock pump packaging is an extra bonus, as it really helps keep the product sanitary and makes it really easy to use.
L’Oreal Skin Genesis Serum Concentrate is truly one of my all-time favorite products, and it usually retails for about $19.99 in drugstores. Keep reading to find out how you can consistently get this product for much less. › Continue reading

Get Discounts for Recycling Empty Tarte Cosmetics Packaging!
Friday, November 7th, 2008 | General, Makeup, Sales, Stores | 3 Comments
Recycling + Shopping Discounts = Good!
Tarte Cosmetics has begun offering their customers incentives to recycle their empty Tarte product packaging. Tarte’s customer recycling incentive program offers various discounts off of future purchases when customers send back their empty bottles, tubes, or tins of Tarte products.
Currently the Tarte recycling incentive applies only to returns of packaging from certain products, but that is understandable as only certain material is recyclable. Though the recycling discounts are currently limited to future purchases from Tarte of a similar product type, the discounts will definitely help motivate me to send in my tube of Tarte Smooth Operator SPF 20 Foundation once it is empty. Since Smooth Operator is one of my favorite foundations (in Incognito), and since I already plan on repurchasing more of it, the Tarte recycling discount is like the cherry on the cupcake. I just have to remember to do it!
How the Tarte Recycling Incentive Program Works: › Continue reading
Election Day 2008! Get Beautiful and Vote!
Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 | General | 1 Comment
Paint your lips, paint your toes, paint your fingernails, and go vote!
Don’t forget! Today is the day to cast your vote in one of our most important presidential elections ever! Exciting!
With my toes painted in OPI’s You Don’t Know Jacques grey nail polish, I went and voted early, last week. While submitting my vote wasn’t going to enter me in a raffle to win some gigantic beauty basket overflowing with my favorite things from Sephora, it still felt good waiting my turn and casting my ballot.
